Red alert article for the acute side effects

Post by Olga »

Deb shared with me this immune therapy blog (Dr. Breelyn Wilky twitted this from Science Times newsletter).
It is a very important review of the acute side effects caused by the overreacting/overstimulated immune system attacking the person's organs leading to acute diabetes and multi organ failure. With the number of the clinical trials and more important off label use of these drugs - tageted immune therapy - expanding rapidly and not enough funding from the companies producing these amazingly expensive drugs directed toward studying and documenting the acute and chronic side effects - the situation became very alarming and the patients have to be widely aware of the newly discovered side effects.
Pleas read it if you are on the clinical trial or taking the drug off label.

with any of the worrying side effects signs please discontinue the drug immediately, go to ER and ask them to contact the oncologist. Steroids are found to help in some cases.

Dear Olga,
Deepest gratitude to both you and Debbie for sharing this critically important information which needs to be read by anyone considering Immunotherapy treatment or currently receiving it. It is very concerning and discouraging that this very promising new treatment which has given us all so much Hope, has now been found to possibly cause severe and very dangerous adverse side effects, but it is essential for anyone considering or receiving the treatment to be aware of the serious risks associated with it before beginning the treatment or continuing with it. As always, the burden and responsibility of being as knowledgeable as possible about treatments lies with the patient/patient's family.
With deepest gratitude for your invaluable sharing and great concern for the implications of the information which you so thoughtfully shared,
Bonni
