Dear ASPS Community Friends,
The following is information recently posted on the ASPS Facebook site regarding the promising new anti-PD-1 drug, which enables the human immune system to attack and kill tumor cells, and which showed early promise in several clinical trials with other metastatic solid tumors including malignant melanoma which is biologically similar to ASPS. Does anyone on this Board have any information or anecdotal treatment experience with this drug? It will be interesting to follow its development and treatment results, and could perhaps be explored and discussed as a possible new treatment option for ASPS with your oncologist.
"There's a lot of excitement about PD-1 and metastatic solid cancers. Merck just announced it is expanding its expanded access and compassionate use programs. Still don't know if ASPS would qualify, but it may be worth a query. Just spoke to a woman who knows several who have taken it for melanoma. The side effects for them have been mild.http://www.merck.com/about/views-and-po ... /home.html It's thought that the drug will be commercially available this year."
With an ongoing and relentless quest for a new effective ASPS treatment and cure, and with special caring thoughts, healing wishes, and continued Hope,
Bonni

Hi Bonni
Lynette mentioned the monoclonal aspect of the PD1 study
I found additional info from the National Cancer Institute , NCI, that expands on your clinical trials mentioned with melanoma etc

A flow chart from Brystel Meyers showing how the proposed drugs could aid in helping the T cells fight cancer, I think?
Need input please.
