Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors and Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Brain Metastases
Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors and Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Brain Metastases
This topic is intended to collect the increasingly convincing body of evidence that combining some kind of SBRT for the brain metastases (basically any types of it - Novalis, GammaKnife, CyberKnife - as long as it is focused and high dose radiosurgery versus WBRT that is not effective in ASPS due to its radio-resistance) with immune checkpoint inhibitors improve both and provides a synergy, providing the better result that the radiosurgery and the ICI alone.

Concurrent Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors and Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Brain Metastases in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, Melanoma, and Renal Cell Carcinoma.

CONCLUSIONS:
Delivering SRS-SRT with concurrent ICI may be associated with a decreased incidence of new BMs and favorable survival outcomes without increased rates of adverse events.

CONCLUSIONS:
Concurrent SRS-ICI therapy has a tolerable adverse event profile and may improve extracranial disease control and overall survival, supporting concurrent use in the management of BMs.
