SHIVA: Trial of Personalized Cancer Care Disappoints

Post by arojussi »

By coincident I found this: SHIVA: Trial of Personalized Cancer Care Disappoints. I share it here because if your doctor is suggesting some treatment over other because of molecular profiling. This study found that treatment based on molecular profiling wasn't better than treatment based on doctor´s recommendation. (If I understood it right.) So if your molecular profile sows pd1 negative tumor Keytruda or Opdivo can still be worth a try.
i was once suggested liquid biopsy to find new treatments for my asps. I refused, because I didn't believe they could find mutations in my brain tumors based on liquid biopsy, which is basically expensive blood test. I feel pretty smart right now.

Hello Jussi
Could you link us to a non medical link if possible ?
I'm interested in understanding the article.
So moving from a pdl1 to a pd1 is a possible good move ?

As I understand the point is that testing for the targets and later using the targeted drug that matches was found no more effective that using the targeted drugs without pre-testing, i.e. having the markers did not correlate with the response. It is noted pretty often after the trails that test for the markers in addition to the main trial goals.
Jussi - the link does not work, can you please just copy the name of the article.

You were tested for Pd1?

Our mitosis
rates were different from our primary to Joshua's lungs, when I compared pathology reports .

I think based on this information, it is not wise to have biopsy to see if some treatment would be effective. especially when taking biopsy from highly vascular asps can be dangerous. I was just using keytruda and opdivo as an example, that even if biopsy doesnt support their usage they can still work and I suppose this is true for other treatments as well.

they have samples from my lung mets and primary tumor, but they might be very different than my brain mets. I dont know results yet, but as I said no matter what they find from these samples it most likely wont effect my current treatment.
treatment.
