curcumin?

Some time ago, I had sent an emal to Dr.Bharath Aggarwal frm MDAnderson, asking him if he had any experience on ASPS and curcumin. He didn't have anything specfic on ASPS, but sent me a list of articles on Curcumin and sarcoma. This is a lot of information for me, but maybe someone else here can understand it better. Here goes-

If dietary curcumin can have a positive influence on cancer prevention and cancer survivors life - then overall incidence of cancers should be really lower in the Asia region (and survival stats would be better), where it widely used as a spice?
Curcumin is the active ingredient of turmeric. It is widely used as a kitchen spice and food colorant throughout India, Asia and the Western world. Curcumin is a major constituent of curry powder. As a complimentary medicine drug it is widely sold at the vitamin sections, millions of dollars are received by its producers in a revenue every year so they should have been able to afford the trials if they wanted to, but...

They say that "
curcumin may exhibit organ-specific effects to enhance reactive oxygen species formation in the damaged lung epithelium of smokers and ex-smokers. Ongoing clinical trials thus may need to exclude smokers and ex-smokers in chemopreventive trials of curcumin."
Lung cancer is the epithelial cancer, sarcoma is not, so I do not know what curcumin can do to the established sarcoma lung mets, but this article set the alarm re. use of the curcumin in the lung mets setting.

Thank you both for posting all this information! I have been looking in to curcumin also off the forums and I wil be reading up :)
