An unusual metastatic tumor to the heart☆

Post by D.ap »

My thought is maybe ASPS ,maybe women , should be vigilant about echocardiogram schedules ?

Abstract
Metastatic tumors of the heart are 20 to 40 times more common than the primary cardiac tumors. Cardiac metastasis from pelvic malignancy is rare and gynecological tumors rarely metastasize to the heart. Metastasis into the heart is rare and most of the cases are diagnosed postmortem during autopsy. We report a case of metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of uterine cervix into heart causing obstruction of the right ventricle and pulmonary artery causing dyspnea on exertion and eventually patient's demise.

Introduction
Paragraph 2

“Direct invasion, lymphatic and vascular metastasis are the usual modes of cardiac involvement. Pericardium is the most common site of involvement, while myocardial and endocardical involvements are rare [6]. Metastatic cancer to the heart is generally a late manifestation of malignancy as the patient usually has metastasis in other locations. Rarely, the heart is the only site of metastasis”
