This anesthesia is being used as a mid line anesthesia to aid in sedating the patient but also aiding the patient/doctor in their goals to maintain anxiety and as well as monitoring and leaving communications open that are so important in the surgical procedure.

Josh was still sick to stomach after liver ablation, post operative. But medicines help to manage til morning after. :D

It is great that Dr.Littrup and Dr.Aoun try to use conscious sedation instead of general anesthesia during the ablation procedures. General anesthesia is more traumatic for the patient, suppresses his immune system and has few health dangers of its own, procedure aside. In Vancouver they always use general anesthesia, due to less experience.
